Everyone who has a website knows in order for it to earn money online, you need a ton of traffic. More people who come, the more of a chance you will make money. Problem is there are so many related topics online nowadays it is tough to get good quality traffic due to so many similar topics.
There are many ways to get traffic to your site. You can pay for it or do the work and get it for free. Getting free taffic to your website:
Keywords: Establish strong keywords to get targeted traffic to your site.
Articles: Writing articles is great to give information to others as well as create backlinks to your site. It only takes about 15-20 mins to write an article that is related to your site. When writing them always include html codes that will direct them to your site. This will give your site exposure as well as creating backlinks to your site. That may help with your seo as well. After you have articles written, just go to any article submitter site and submit. I always use ones that submit them for me, I do have to pay some, but it is well worth it. They will distribute them to alot more places I would be able to in a quicker time.
Directories: Submitting your site to google and yahoo is a good idea for traffic as well. But really, as long as you always update your site and adding fresh content, search engines will realize that your site is worth getting indexed.
Updating: The real key to getting higher rankings on any search engine is updating alot with valuable information. Any website can make money, but a website that is packed with great information will most likely get more traffic, in result more $$$$$$. When updating your website always make sure you ping it through any pinging service. This notifies serch engines that your site should be crawled. This really kind of trains the search engine that your site gets updated alot and that they should crawl it often. This in turn can also get your search results ranking higher as well. Higher rankings, more of a chance to be seen.
Bookmarking: It is also a good idea to bookmark your site with the strong keywords to get exposure. There are many free bookmarking sites on the web, all you need to do is register and you will be able to bookmark your site for free.
Forums: Join some forums that is related to your site and post regularily. Also put a link in your signature area to also get more backlinks to your site. Some forums do however have a minimum post count in order for you to have anything in your sig. Along with doing this you also need to post informative comments as well. Forum marketing is one of the easiest ways to get traffic to your site, just be careful not to spam, you will get banned.
Traffic exchanges: Though this is good for traffic, it also brings alot of non targeted traffic as well. Traffic exchanges are just people like you that are trying to get traffic to, they are fellow business people.
Other sites: Create other generic sites using squidoo, blogger, etc. these are free and also a great way to get backlinks. Create sites that are informative and leads to your site. Kind of advertising your site on other sites, which in turn will give you more links over the web. Also will give more search results for your online business. But just like your site, you need to add to it often to get more exposure to them as well, which will lead to more targeted traffic to your primary site.
Those are just a few ways to get more traffic to any site. That is alot of work to get leads and trageted traffic to your site, but it is free, which means more money being made by you.
You can also do the easy way and pay for it through other programs, but in the longrun, free traffic is better then paid traffic.
